The rules for using RestoreCost, in plain English. By using the site, you agree to them.

Who these terms are with

These terms are an agreement between you and Signal Works, LLC, a Michigan company that publishes RestoreCost at restorecost.com ("we" or "us"). Our privacy policy explains how we handle your information. If you don't agree to these terms, please don't use the site.

What RestoreCost is, and isn't

  • RestoreCost gives general information about home damage repair costs and insurance. It isn't legal, insurance, financial, health or other professional advice, and using it doesn't create any professional relationship.
  • Our cost ranges and calculator results are estimates for typical jobs, not quotes or offers. The final price of any job comes from an on-site inspection by the company you hire.
  • We're not a restoration company, a contractor, an insurer, an adjuster or a government agency, and we're not affiliated with FEMA or the National Flood Insurance Program.
  • We work to keep information accurate and current, but rules, prices and policies change. Check anything important with your insurer, your state, or a qualified professional.

Companies you contact through the site

Companies you reach through a call button, request form or partner link are independent of us. We don't employ them, inspect their work, check their licenses or insurance, or guarantee their prices or results, and we're not part of any agreement you make with them. Before you hire anyone, check their license and insurance yourself and get the agreement in writing.

These companies, or call networks working with them, may pay us; here's how. Calls may be routed by a call network and recorded by the network or the company.

The Quote Checker

  • Upload only quotes you have the right to share. By uploading, you confirm you do. Leave out other people's personal information where you can. We remove some personal details automatically, but not all.
  • You keep ownership of your quote. You give us permission to send it to our service providers, including Anthropic and Cloudflare, to read it, and to use the line items and prices you confirm, without your name or address, to build, improve and publish cost ranges and statistics.
  • Results are automated and can be wrong. The AI can misread a quote, which is why you check what it read before anything is compared. A flagged line is a question to ask, not proof of overcharging.

Using the site

Please don't:

  • copy our content or data in bulk, or scrape the site to build a competing product,
  • try to get around usage limits, bot checks or security measures,
  • upload anything unlawful, harmful or that you don't have the right to share,
  • use the site to mislead, harass or harm anyone.

We may limit or block access when someone breaks these terms or puts the site at risk.

Our content

The site's text, data, charts, tools and design belong to Signal Works, LLC or the people we license them from. You may link to any page and quote short passages with credit to RestoreCost. Other names and trademarks on the site belong to their owners and appear only to describe their products.

Copyright complaints

If you believe something on our site infringes your copyright, email a notice to [email protected] with: your contact details; the work you believe is infringed; the material on our site and where it is; a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorized by the owner, its agent or the law; a statement that your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner; and your physical or electronic signature. We may end access for people who repeatedly infringe.

We link to sources and other websites so you can check our work. We don't control them and aren't responsible for their content or practices.

Disclaimers

The site is provided "as is" and "as available." To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including that the site or its information will be accurate, complete, uninterrupted or fit for a particular purpose.

Limits on our liability

To the extent the law allows, Signal Works, LLC isn't liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for anything a company you contact through the site does or fails to do. Our total liability for any claim about the site is limited to $100.

Governing law

Michigan law governs these terms, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute about them or the site will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Michigan, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring it there.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We'll post the new version here with a new effective date, and note material changes at the top of this page for at least 30 days. If you keep using the site after a change takes effect, the new terms apply from then on. A change doesn't apply to a dispute that started before it.
